PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a synchronized signal on the basis of incoherent light fluctuation as well as detecting characteristics of a sample by applying thereto an electromagnetic wave generated by incoherent light that is a light containing random intensity modulation with a short timescale.;SOLUTION: Laser light that is an incoherent light is split by a beam splitter 2. One split laser light 3 is applied to a light conductive element 6 for electromagnetic wave radiation, so that an electromagnetic wave 10 is radiated therefrom. The electromagnetic wave 10 is paralleled by a parabolic mirror 9, and is transmitted through a sample 12 or reflected therefrom. This electromagnetic wave 10 to be detected is collected via a parabolic mirror 14 into a light conductive element 7 for electromagnetic wave detection, while the other split laser light 4 is time-delayed and applied thereto. A mutual correlation signal between the electromagnetic wave 10 to be detected and the incoherent laser light 4 is detected as an electric current.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
