PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method for atmosphere purifying effect capable of easily measuring an atmosphere purifying effect, and to provide an atmosphere purifying material capable of easily determining the atmosphere purifying effect in an atmospheric purification using a photocatalyst. SOLUTION: A color changing material whose color is changed by nitrate ion is attached to a photocatalyst-containing layer formed on a surface to purify the atmosphere by oxidizing nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere into nitrate ion with the photocatalyst. If the photocatalyst oxidizes the nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere into the nitrate ion, the nitrate ion changes the color of the color changing material, and observing the color change of the color changing material allows to easily determine whether the atmosphere is purified or not.
