METHOD FOR MEASURING CONTENTS OF SILICON AND PHOSPHORUS IN MOLTEN CAST IRON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the contents of silicon and phosphorus in molten metal at a time of a steel making process. SOLUTION: A small amount of an addition agent for white pig iron is added to a sample container measuring the heat cooling curve of a molten metal, and the molten metal is injected in the sample container to measure the metastable eutectic temperature (TEc) of the molten metal. When the metastable eutectic temperature is within a range of 1,142-1,146 deg.C, the removal of silicon in the molten metal is estimated to be completed to calculate the content of phosphorus as (1,146-TEc)/31.1.
