ABSTRACTIn measuring a cooling curve by means of thermalanalysis of cast iron, a compressed powder moulding orsintered moulding of tellurium, bismuth, boron, zinc and/oraluminium is fixed to -the inner surface of a cooling curvemeasuring cup, and a melt is poured into said cup whenprimaly crystalized and eutectic temperatures based onthe metastable solidification of iron, cementite andsilicon cleary appear. This method allows the carbonequivalent, carbon content and silicon content of thecast iron to be determined and the physical and mechanicalproperties of the iron to be estimated. Additionally,said compressed metallic powder moulding or sinteredmoulding is arranged at and fixed to said cooling curvemeasuring cup used in the method, while enclosing athermocouple.
