PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage method and equipment for city gas suited for rock bed storage, by storing the city gas in a state of high pressure gas to effectively utilize cold heat at pressure reduction time to a city gas conduit pipe so as to enable miniaturization and energy saving in the equipment for storing the city gas.;SOLUTION: In this method and equipment for storing city gas as high pressure gas, in a time zone of low demand, gas collected by branching from a city gas conduit pipe is compressed to a storage pressure of higher level, cooled by an after-cooler, thereafter stored in a high pressure storage tank, and in a time zone of high demand, gas is expanded to a gas pressure of the city gas conduit pipe by an expansion valve or an expansion turbine from the high pressure storage tank, after cold heat in this case is collected by a refrigerant of a cold regenerative tank, the gas is delivered to the city gas conduit pipe. The refrigerant of the cold regenerative tank cools a compressor in the time zone of low demand, and after cooling storage gas by the after cooler, the gas is returned to the cold regenerative tank.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
