PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provie a melting furnace in which coal ash collected in a boiler plant can be effectively melted and nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas can be reduced. SOLUTION: In the boiler plant having a boiler furnace 3 for burning coal to generate vapor and a dust collector 7 for collecting the ash generated upon combustion of the coal, the ash melting furnace 13 for recovering the ash collected in the dust collector 7, burning and melting the ash is separately provide din the boiler plant. To the ash melting furnace 13, fuel 24 required for melting the ash and combustion air 21 for burning the fuel 24 as well as the recovered ash are supplied.
