PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide frequency offset estimating method and a device in a digital sound broadcasting system of an on-channel in a hybrid band. SOLUTION: In an OFDM communication system, a receiver 600 receiving a digital signal including a signature sequence is provided with a loop filter 700 which is suitable to the signature sequence to find the correlation of the digital signal received by using at least two frequencies and a VCO 605 which selects one of frequencies offering a correlative peak having maximum amplitude to position the correlative peak in the vicinity of one certain bin, first decides a frequency offset of rough offset in accordance with an integer number of OFDM bin separation between actual and measured positions and subsequently estimates and tracks offset of fine (i.e., residual) offset in a continuous manner.
