PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of decomposing hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide in a liquid to be inspected containing hydrogen peroxide together with a very small amount of metal, by which the hydrogen peroxide is substantially completely decomposed in a short time, and to provide a pretreatment method for electrochemical analysis for detecting the very small amount of metal, using the same. SOLUTION: The method of decomposing hydrogen peroxide comprises applying ultrasonic waves to a liquid containing hydrogen peroxide while bringing the liquid into contact with a catalyst. The pretreatment method of a liquid to be inspected comprises of decomposing and removing hydrogen peroxide contained in the liquid to be inspected by electrochemical analysis, which liquid contains the hydrogen peroxide together with the very small amount of metal to be analyzed, by adding a platinum group catalyst into the liquid to be inspected and further applying ultrasonic waves to the liquid. The pretreatment method of the above mentioned liquid to be inspected comprises decomposing and removing hydrogen peroxide by subjecting the liquid to electrolysis using platinum as an electrode, or the pretreatment method of the liquid to be inspected comprises decomposing and removing hydrogen peroxide by irradiating the liquid with ultraviolet rays having wavelength of 150 to 250 nm.
