PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop artificial vision serving as substitute vision for a visually handicapped person by one-dimensional distance measuring method resistant to no contrast, occlusion and virtual image problem in a stereo visual system using a laser beam as an auxiliary light source. ;SOLUTION: At least two image acquiring appliances and laser beams emitted in one fan shape constitute this distance measuring method, and if the installation position of the at least two image acquiring appliances and the emitting direction of the laser beam are known in advance, the irradiating position of the laser beam irregularly reflected by being irradiated on an object in the image acquired by the constituent image acquiring appliance can be fixed uniquely to one position.
