SOLUTION: In this method for determining seal failure in a filling/packaging bag and an apparatus therefor, a longitudinally sealing mechanism 5 comprising a pair of longitudinally sealing rolls 5A, which rotate opposingly, effects a longitudinal seal FH to a film F transferred continuously and forms it into a cylindrical shape. AS the film F formed into the cylindrical shape is filled with contents W comprising fluid substances, a laterally sealing mechanism 7 comprising a pair of laterally sealing rolls 7A, which rotate opposingly, effects a lateral seal FS to the cylindrical film F to continuously seal and package the contents W thereinto. Then, on the downstream side of the laterally sealing mechanism 7, which is located in a direction in which the film is transferred, rays of light emitted from a light-emitting means 10 are intermittently projected onto the heated portion of the film F where the lateral seal FS is effected, and the presence of bubbles WB caused by vapor from the contents W remaining in the portion of the lateral seal FS can be determined based on an afterimage phenomenon of the irradiated light rays by intermittent emission.
