PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly assaying microbe contamination in various substances, including food.;SOLUTION: This assay is as follows: a target microbe is collected from a sample by adding magnetic beads immobilized with antibodies against target microbe antigens to the sample that is an assay target to cause an antigen- antibody reaction. Next, a fluorescence labeling reaction is caused by adding a substance generating fluorescence when the living target microbe takes in the substance. Last, the presence or absence of the target microbe, and the life or death of the target microbe are determined with a fluorescence microscope.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
