PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the melt-stickiness between a square stopper receiving brick and a stopper head brick, the solidification of molten steel in the inner part of an immersion nozzle as a runner and the oxidation of molten steel caused by oxygen-cleaning because the oxygen-cleaning in the immersion nozzle is unnecessary, in a continuous casting method with the sequence casting. ;SOLUTION: When the molten steel surface 12 is lowered in a mold 10 at the last casting time of the molten metal in a tundish and reaches the lowered molten steel surface position 13, the stopper 4 is lowered to the square brick 5 at the bottom part 6 of a tundish to close the runner holes 7 of the square brick 5. Successively, a sliding plate 8 below the square brick is fully opened to secure the runner 9 in the immersion nozzle 3. By this way, at the contacting position on the upper surface of the square brick 5 at the bottom part 6 of the tundish abutted on the stopper 4, since a little of pool part is formed and the molten steel at this position in the tundish is not fully solidified, the stopper 4 is easily raised at the starting time of casting in the next heat and the runner holes 7 can easily be opened.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
