PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To oscillate coherent electromagnetic wave only by a DC current by providing an electromagnetic wave oscillation source with a tunnel barrier layer, wherein a superconductor single crystal with a laminar crystal structure and an injection electrode are subjected to tunnel junction and radiating coherent electromagnetic wave of uniform phase by current injection to an injection electrode.;SOLUTION: An electromagnetic wave oscillation source 10 has a superconductor single crystal 11 with a laminar crystal structure wherein a superconducting layer is laminated in a c-axis direction of a crystallographic axis and a tunnel barrier layer 13 formed on the superconductor single crystal 11, and a large quantity of electron is injected to the superconductor single crystal 11 through the tunnel barrier layer 13 by electrodes 15, 17. Since the superconductor single crystal 11 has a laminar crystal structure, it has a structure of Josephson junction. Furthermore, in the superconductor single crystal 11, when a DC current is injected through the tunnel barrier layer 13, microwave radiation is generated based on generation of plasma wave and yet leading amplification function.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
