PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and apparatus capable of inexpensively manu facturing a double-oriented silicon steel sheet ({100}001 by Miller Index) as a soft magnetic material used for a magnetic core of a transformer, etc., with high productivity.;SOLUTION: In this cross cold rolling method for a double-oriented silicon steel sheet, a double-oriented silicon steel sheet is first coiled and cold rolled in a longitudinal direction at cross cold rolling. The steel sheet is then sheared into steel sheets of the prescribed length at an angle of (90±α)° (where 5≤α≤20° is satisfied) clockwise from the longitudinal direction of advance. After the direction of the resultant sheared steel sheets are changed by (90-±α)° (where -±means ±), respectively, these steel sheets are conveyed again in the longitudinal direction of the above steel sheet. Respective edges of the steel sheets are joined, and the resultant steel sheet is coiled and then rolled again in the longitudinal direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
