Proline and 4-hydroxyproline and their salts as therapeutic agents to treat inflammation and pain and to promote wound healing Cpds. are also used to treat rheumatic and non-rheumatic pain, as analgesics and to treat post-operative or post-traumatic pain. Ascorbate salts are pref. Pref. administration is as tablets, dragees, capsules, granules, suppositories or gel, cream or ointment. In liquid prepns. a soln. or suspension is pref.
