This invention relates generally to mechanisms of gene expression in plantsand more specifically to regulation of expression of genes in plants in a"tissue-preferred" manner. Regulation of expression is achieved using atranscriptional regulatory unit capable of driving expression of genes withincertain tissues of a plant. Said transcriptional regulatory unit are to beutilized for driving expression of genes effective in the control of insect orother pests which threaten plants.
