The invention relates to the identification and characterization of a new gene expressed in tumor cells and involved in the regulation of the immune response, the cloning and characterization of its cDNA and the corresponding polypeptides. The invention also relates to vectors containing a nucleic acid encoding this gene, cells transformed by such vectors as well as diagnostic methods and methods for selecting a chemical or biochemical compound capable of interacting directly or indirectly with a nucleic acid or polypeptide according to the invention. The invention further relates to compounds for the treatment of immune pathologies, including autoimmune diseases and cancer.
