Shellfish-collecting device and particular application of a coarse-meshed seine

There has been described a shellfish-collecting device, which is put into the sea in order to catch, and subsequently form a fixing-point and growing-place for, shellfish with a pelagic spat phase. Shellfish spat lodged on such a shellfish-collecting device feeds on prey and other nutrients, which are supplied together with oxygen of water flowing past/through the shellfish-collecting device, and grow to harvestable shellfish within a number of months, depending on the supply of nourishment and general conditions of growing. To achieve an optimal balance between shellfish attachment area and water passage area per square metre, evenly distributed across the net (10) of a shellfish-collecting seine resembling a fishnet, the meshes of the net are sized so that they are within the mesh range of 150-400 millimetres, whereas the diameter of the mesh thread constitutes from 5 to 12 millimetres. The shellfish-collecting seine is set in the sea as a normal fishnet, and comprises the headline (12) with float means (16) and the foot line (14) with sinking means.
