Waterborne modified phenolics (arylzenesuptm/sup) additives for improving environmental performance of waterborne, water reducible and water dispersible coatings

Phenolic aralkylation polymers modified by reaction with an anhydride to improve the characteristics and properties of coating systems in which the modified materials are incorporated. The anhydride is reacted with an aliphatic hydroxyl moiety of an alkoxylated phenolic aralkylation polymer. The hydroxyl moieties include those that have been "chain extended" if desired.
