The invention relates essentially to the use of a laser of the switched or pulsed Nd:YAG type, continuous or pulsed CO2 type, excimer type, or any other type of pulsed laser, which is frequency doubled or tripled, in order to perform modifications on a ceramic surface with a xy movement system, either with galvanometric mirrors or with a mechanical system of coordinates of the movement of the part or with combined systems of movement. Thereby, marks can be made with a design obtained by computer with conventional programs, resulting in the production of logo-types and bar-codes, or any other type of marking which is permanently integrated into the part without affecting its functional characteristics, e.g. without modifying the mechanical characteristics of said parts which could negatively affect the use of said parts in construction or decoration.
