Usual hunting rifle projectiles consist of one or more cores made of the toxic heavy metal lead which are enclosed by a case made of a substantially harder material. An uncontrolled splitting apart of the projectile leads to the following cited negative results: to a remaining body of a non-predeterminable mass; to a failure of the projectile to exit the game animal body in the case of an unfavorable course of trajectory in the game animal body and due to lower penetration force; to a depth action that is too low in the instance of a strong game animal; to a negative reaction of the game animal, thus a delayed or insufficient effect, and to possible searches as a result thereof. The case and core can partially or completely separate at projectile velocities that are unfavorable, that is to say, at velocities that are too high, thus resulting in an unsatisfactory target ballistic effect. For this reason, the invention provides that the core (3) and the case (4) comprise, in addition to non-positive joining, a positive and/or material fit joining (7). This joining can be effected by screwing, bonding using adhesives, soldering or by welding.
