From the main gearing (1) in a ram collecting press a separate drive link runs to a filling and emptying device (9). A second drive link runs through an excess load clutch to a feed device (33) carrying harvested crops to a feed channel (11). A measuring device (22) recording loading from the filling and emptying device operates a functional link with a switch element (38) in the second drive link for the feed device.
