PURPOSE: A process of preparing a polymethylmethacrylate-graft-acrylic acid-acrylamide surface copolymer by graft polymerization of acrylic acid having excellent controlling effect on electrostatic repulsive force and acrylamide having excellent controlling effect on hydrophilic degree on the surface of polymethylmethacrylate in a prescribed mole ratio is provided which produces the titled copolymer suitable for biomaterials such as artificial lens, contact lens, an artificial bone, an artificial articulation or the like. CONSTITUTION: The polymethylmethacrylate-graft-acrylic acid-acrylamide surface copolymer is prepared by positioning polymethylmethacrylate in an ICP-CVD reactor and irradiating oxygen and argon plasma using a 13.56 MHz radio frequency generator under high vacuum state, dissolving acrylic acid and acrylamide in distilled water in a molar ratio of 20/80 to 80/20 and adjusting 20% by weight of the obtained aqueous solution to pH 3.7 to 3.8 with Ba(OH)2 and introducing the plasma treated polymethylmethacrylate thereinto, graft polymerizing at 50 to 70C for 1 to 3 hr, washing and drying at 50 to 70C for 10 to 14 hr.
