PURPOSE: A plasma display panel for an HDTV is provided to prevent the deterioration of the contrast and to improve brightness by the use of a four-electrode surface discharge display panel having a black stripe. CONSTITUTION: An X, Y and address electrodes are made of metallic bus electrode so as to prevent the deterioration of an electrode and a voltage. The X electrode is connected with an X driver. The Y electrode is connected with a Y driver. A first, second and third electrodes(Xn,Yn,Xn+1) are arranged in parallel on a first substrate of a plasma display panel. A fourth electrode is arranged perpendicular to the first electrode in the first or a second substrate. The plasma display panel includes a first electrode driving device, a second electrode driving device and a third electrode driving device. A first display cell is formed at an intersection of the first, second and fourth electrodes. A second display cell is formed at an intersection of the first, third and fourth electrodes. The plasma display panel includes a black stripe(50) so as to increase the resolution.
