PURPOSE: A fruit grader and grading method accurately controls discharging location even if gap between cups are changed as a belt is lengthened. CONSTITUTION: A first and a second driving rollers(30) are engaged with a conveyer belt(1) to convey fruits conveyed from a diffusing and arranging part(20) to a certain direction. Fruit containing cups(8) are continuously arranged and have lower ends engaged with the conveyer belt(1). A visual input device(5) and a first sensor(6) are installed above the conveyer belt(1) on the position where fruits are conveyed into the grader. A second sensor(7) is installed where fruits are discharged. A microprocessor(100) receives signals through signal lines(10, 11, 12), a DSP board(13) and a D/D board(14). Solenoids(15) are installed to each of the fruit containing cups(8) so that the cups(8) are interlocked with moving rods of the solenoids(15) and receives signal from the output port of the microprocessor(100) through the D/D board(16) and a SSR(17) for operation of the solenoids(15). If the current detected distance between the front end and the rear end of the conveyer belt(1) is changed and the distance is determined to be lengthened, the discharging timing is changed so that the discharging location of fruits is changed.
