PURPOSE: An ignition timing control method is provided to prevent the failure to start of an engine by performing ignition timing control for gasoline even when a microprocessor in a module performs malfunction and to conveniently test the normal operation of a system by lighting on a check lamp. CONSTITUTION: When a driver selects an LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas) mode and the temperature of cooling water of an engine is lower than a specific level, an ignition timing control pulse for gasoline is transmitted to a primary ignition coil(50). When the temperature of the cooling water is higher than the specific level, an ignition timing control pulse for gasoline is changed to advance ignition timing proper to the respective operational ranges. If a gasoline mode is selected, an original ignition timing control pulse is transmitted to the primary ignition coil regardless of the temperature of the cooling water. When the ignition timing control pulse is changed, a current dwell time of the ignition timing control pulse is shortened. By changing ignition timing corresponding to the respective fuel modes, optimal engine output and fuel efficiency are realized at any fuel mode. When LPG fuel is used, the durability of an ignition coil is improved. If a microprocessor(13) has troubles or performs malfunction, disorder or stoppage of an engine is prevented by automatically operating ignition timing control function for gasoline. The check lamp enables a driver or a worker to conveniently repair or check a system.
