Preparation of ceramic tube by electrophoretic deposition processing

PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of ceramic tubes, especially fine and precise tubes used for piezoelectric materials by an electrophoresis is provided, which gives much shortened process and lowered manufacturing costs compared with a conventional method using injection or extrusion molding. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of: dipping a negative electrode rod(1) made of materials such as carbon with conductivity and inflammability and/or stripable property into a ceramic suspension(3) of pH2-4 comprising alcohol or the mixture of alcohol and organic polar solvent, ceramic powder, and acid such as H2SO4 or HNO3; coating the negative electrode, being rotated, with ceramic particles by applying positive voltage to a metal vessel made of WC-based steel, a positive electrode(2); separating the negative electrode coated with ceramic and then removing it by burning and/or stripping.
