PURPOSE: A method is provided to manufacture a nickel-alumina mixing aerogel catalyst by supporting nickel onto alumina aerogel differently from an existing alumina supported nickel catalyst or using sol-gel process. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing an alumina aerogel support for a supported nickel-alumina catalyst comprises a first step of dissolving aluminum alkoxide into a heated alcohol solvent; a second step of forming a transparent sol by performing hydrolysis by adding water, acid and alcohol into the solution prepared in the first step; a third step of forming a gel by adding water contained alcohol into the sol after cooling the sol formed in the second step to an ordinary temperature; a fourth step of aging the gel formed in the third step; a fifth step of supercritical drying the gel aged in the fourth step; and a sixth step of primary heat treating the gel dried in the fifth step in an inert atmosphere, and secondary heat treating the primary heat treated gel in an oxygen atmosphere in an air or oxygen atmosphere.
