The fuel pump has a driven horizontal rotor wheel (7) in a pump housing with control blades bounding bucket chambers. A partially annular channel (12,13) in the pump housing near the blades forms a feed channel with the bucket chambers for delivery of fuel from an inlet channel (8) to an outlet channel (11). The inlet channel is essentially parallel to the end of the rotor wheel and opens into the partially annular channel.
