The device includes an input for an analogue signal from a digitally controlled sensor (13), an output (3) for a digital signal, and an analogue processing stage (5). An A/D converter (7) receives the output of the analogue processing stage and is controlled by an internal clock (CLK). The device also includes a digital circuit (19) which measures and adjusts the time difference (dp) between the internal clock of the A/D converter, and the clock (CLK') used to control the sensor. The analogue signal may be the output of an echo depth sounder, a CCD sensor, or a modem. An Independent claim is included for a method of synchronising high-speed analogue electronic circuitry.
