Forming products of digitised analogue measurement signals - using asynchronous sampling and statistically constrained clocking time differences

The method is for forming products of digital electrical measurement parameters derived from analogue signals by using clocked samplers and involves sampling the analogue signals at different points and forming the product at different time points. These products corresp. accurately to those which could be obtained from digital parameters obtained at equal points and synchronised times. The sampling of the analogue signals and the clocking of the product generators are performed continually at different time points. This results in a definable statistical error distribution for the differences in time of occurrence of the different digital measurement parameters falling within a measurement period. The measurement period is determined by the different clock cycles. The time intervals during the measurement period are constrained to exhibit a uniform distribution.
