The drive control method responds to a loss in traction of one of the driven wheels, for selective braking of the driven wheel and temporary reduction of the delivered drive force, so that the traction is restored. The braking force delivered to the wheel is detected for indicating the corresponding reduction in the delivered drive force and/or increase in the drive force. An Independent claim for a drive force control device for an automobile is also included.
