The base frame (1) of the pilot cage is fitted with a towbar (3) with end coupling (4) for cage transport behind vehicle etc and the frame has a hinged and spring-damped undercarriage (2) joining two rear wheels (5) to the frame (1) with the dampers between. The undercarriage is composed of two triangle linkages (23) extending rearwards from the frame to the rear wheels (5). Damping is by two spring elements (7) joined below to the rear wheel axle (24) and hinged above to the frame (1) spaced from the axle (24). The two hinge points for the dampers on the frame can be adjusted in height. A steerable nose wheel (6) is resiliently mounted by steering axle (10) to the main frame and the towbar (3) is designed so when coupled, the wheel (6) lifts off the ground so the frame (1) is supported by the rear wheels alone.
