The accuracy and reliablity enhancement method determines the weight of the workpiece (5) supported on the workpiece table (1) of the coordinate measuring device, using the air pressure between at least one of the pneumatic bearings (3,4) for the table and the base (2) of the coordinate measuring machine. The determined weight is used for a checking process and/or a correction process, e.g. for correction of the table deformation.
