Production of polyethylene wax comprises polymerizing ethylene and optionally one or more comonomers in a suspension of a supported chromocene catalyst and optionally a cocatalyst at 0-120[deg]C and 0.5-150 bar using an ethylene:hydrogen molar ratio of 2-4:1. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) polyethylene wax (I) obtainable by the above process; (2) production of oxidized polyethylene wax (II) by passing air, oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas through molten (I); (3) emulsions of (II) for the production of coatings; (4) floor care compositions containing (II); (5) coating compositions containing (II).
