A method of producing a catalyst support comprising the steps: a) impregnating a silica, thermally activated, using a solution of organometallic compound of groups 2 or 13 of the Periodic Table, in an inert organic solvent, the compound not being organometallic compound selected from an aluminoxane and an organoboron compound; b) preparing a solution of one or more compounds based on magnesium with a polar solvent except alcohols; c) impregnating the silica obtained in (a) using the solution prepared in (b) solution; d) removing the polar solvent by vacuum; e) reacting the solid obtained in (d) with a solution of one or more organometallic compounds of groups 2 or 13 of the Periodic Table, in an inert organic solvent, the organometallic compounds selected from a compound of aluminoxane not being and organoboron compound.
