Gas chromatograph comprises a sample chamber (4) with an outer wall (4a) which is heated by a heating arrangement and cooled using a cooling arrangement. The chamber is concentrically surrounded by a housing tube (10) forming a heat transfer chamber (7) having an annular cross-section with a medium inlet (8) and a medium outlet (9). The inlet is connected to a cold air stream outlet (11) of a fluidizing pipe (12). The outlet leads either to a furnace (0) or into the atmosphere. Preferred Features: The heat transfer chamber is connected via valves (26, 28) to the cold air stream outlet or to the hot air stream outlet (15) of the fluidizing pipe. The valves are magnetic valves arranged directly near to the medium inlet in the heat transfer chamber.
