The barrier appliance (1) has a drive unit of control device, drive motor, and transmission. It also has a second device to detect and vary the movement and performance-dependent parameters of a barrier (5). This has a logic control unit to regulate and adjust speed and acceleration, defined turning angle positions and monitoring functions during operation. The drive motor is a brush-less DC motor (2) and has at least one signalizing Hall sensor.
