The device (10) has a coupling ball head (12) for supported holding of a trailer part (40). The head engages an opening (43) in the trailer part at least partly enclosing it when coupled. The ball head carries mutually isolated electrical supply contacts (22,24) associated with load contacts (53,55) in the trailer part. The tractor part has an arrangement (30,31) for connecting the supply contacts to the tractor vehicle on-board electrical system. Independent claims are also included for the following: a trailer part of a trailer coupling, a tractor vehicle with a tractor part, a trailer with a trailer part and a trailer adapter cable.
