The cable drum (1) rotates on a frame (4) and carries cables (30) for supplying an endoscope probe (16) wound onto the drum and electrically connected to a slip ring mounted on the frame. The probe has at least one optical cable (28) whose end is inserted into the drum. The ends of the conductors in the optical cable are aligned with respect to daylight lamps (25) connected to the drum so that light is coupled into the ends. The ends of the optical conductors at the end of the optical cable are arranged near the video sensor to illuminate the area to be filmed and the lamps are supplied with electric current via slip rings.
