The meat packaging comprises a container (2) with a lid (3) and upper edge area which overlaps the lid. A convex central area (9) stretches over the edge area and defines a cavity for the food. The packaging does not reform the shape of the food and the cover has a number of teeth (14) on the edge strips for snapping the top to the bottom of the container.
