The food jar neck has a male thread (5) complementary to the female thread (7) of the lid (6). A sealing ring (10) which is inserted between the lid and the jar neck has threads (11,12) complementary to those of the neck and lid. The ring has an accessible zone (13) containing a tearable protective cap (16) with a gripping tab (17) allowing release of the vacuum within the jar and easy removal of the lid.
