The system includes formation of volume cells to create a virtual model of a real organ. The procedure for construction of a virtual three-dimensional model of an organ includes use of surface-type models of the virtual organ, comprising at least one parametric surface representing a tissue layer of the virtual organ. From each of these parametric surfaces at least one curve is derived representing the central axis of the fibre of the tissue layer. The derivation is carried out as a function of the structural properties of the organ. A volume is then created for the virtual organ, in the form of unitary elements or cells constructed successively or concurrently with the curves. This stage includes formation of cells which have both a volume and an orientation. The creation of the volume includes putting into action a scanning of the points of the curve in question by a quadric. The axes of the quadric are collinear with the unit vectors of the Frenet frame associated with each of the points.
