Consolidating strap system for grouped electric cables, has strap passed round cables secured at both ends by interlocking plates and bolted together to tighten the strap
The system has two identical rectangular plates (12,13). Each has one of its longer sides (12g,13g) bent at about 45 degrees forming a toe, while the other long side (12f,13f) is bent similarly, but in the opposite sense. This toe has several rectangular notches that interlock similarly to a hinge. Two slots (12b,12c), forming a buckle, are provided on the face (12a) of each plate parallel to the toes. Through these an end of the strap (11) is passed, turned back and sewn onto itself, securing it round the buckle. The strap, carrying the end-plates, is passed round the cable bundle (2,3,4). At this stage, connecting bolts (14,15) are passed through corresponding elongated holes (12h,12i;13h,13i) in the plate faces. Their nuts (16,17) are tightened against spherical-faced washers which compensate for the non-parallelism of the plates. The plates, effectively rotating about their interlocked edges, apply increasing tension to the strap, tightly clamping the cables together.
