The device consists of a change to the cover ferrule of the Opinel pocket knife by changing the shape of the ferrule and by a reduction of 2 or 2.5 mm to allow almost a complete rotation of the ferrule. The reduction of the ovoid shape permits the blade to be locked into the handle, once the blade is closed.
