A new selenocysteine insertion sequence (SECIS) was provided. SECIS of the present invention reliably inserts selenocysteine into the translation region at only 360 dB. Selenocysteine, such as thioredoxin reductase, is useful for the expression of selenoprotein which is an essential constituent amino acid.
