PURPOSE: To perform operation with high tamping efficiency and high track- adjustment accuracy of a track panel position in both of a branch track section and a standard track section or liner track section by improving a well-known track-tamping machine unit. ;CONSTITUTION: A first tamping machine 4 that is composed so that it is relatively long is provided with a branch section tamping unit 9 that can be adjusted laterally over the transverse cross section shape of a specific machine frame 8 by a drive device 44 for lateral shifting, auxiliary lifting equipment 17 that is capable of height adjustment and lateral adjustment by the drive device for gripping a branch line track 37 that is located adjacently to the side of the first tamping machine 4, and work operator's cabs 14 and 16 that are arranged immediately in front of and at the rear of the branch section tamping unit 9. Also, the first tamping machine 4 and the second tamping machine 5 both have operator's cabs 23 and 30 at an end part being separated from a coupler 6 that is common to both the tamping machines.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
