PURPOSE: To provide the copper alloy bar consisting of Cu contg. specific ratios of Fe and P by specifying the shapes of the crystal grains of the surface structure thereof. ;CONSTITUTION: The copper alloy having a prescribed component compsn. is melted in a channel type induction melting furnace and is cast in a semi- continuous casting machine in the conventional manner and after the ingot is heated and is hot-rolled, the surface of the resulted thick plate is descaled by facing. The thick plate is repetitively subjected to cold rolling, annealing and pickling. The annealing conditions prior to final cold rolling in the method is so adjusted that the average crystal grain sizes of the surface structure attain 5 to 25μm, and further, the draft of the final cold rolling is adjusted to 10 to 85%. As a result, the crystal grains of the surface structure of the bar have the shapes extending in the rolling direction. The desired copper alloy bar having 5 to 25μm average minor diameter (a) of the crystal grains, 5.5 to 170μm average major diameter (b) and 1.1≤b/a≤6.7 is obtd.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
