PURPOSE: To obtain drawn copper bar stock scarcely causing wear to a stamping die by specifying the compsn. of Mg-P-Cu series copper alloy bar stock and the shape and dimension of crystalline grains on the surface. ;CONSTITUTION: This copper bar stock has a compsn. contg., by weight, 0.1 to 1.0% Mg and 0.001 to 0.02% P, and the balance Cu, in which surface crystalline grains has an elliptical shape, and in the case the average minor axis of the crystalline grains having an elliptical shape is defined as (a) and the average major axis as (b), the dimension of a: 5 to 20μm and 1.4≤b/a≤6.7 is regulated. For producing this copper bar stock, the copper alloy ingot having the same compsn. is subjected to hot rolling and is repeatedly subjected to process annealing and cold rolling, and the average grain size of the rolled surface is regulated in the range of 5 to 20μm in final annealing immediately before final cold rolling.
