PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery exhibiting enhanced rate capacity and energy density. SOLUTION: A first cathode structure produced by a first cathode active material exhibiting low energy density and high rate capacity such as vanadium oxide silver (SVO) and a second cathode active material having high energy density and low rate capacity such as CFx are mixed in order to produce a cathode having a smaller ratio of SVO than CFx and fastened between two current collecting bodies. The second cathode mixture comprising the SVO active material and the CFx active material contacts with an outer surface of the current collecting body. The ratio of the SVO to the CFx of the second structure is larger than the first structure. An example of the cathode is as follows: (100-y)%SVO+y%CFx , 0=y=100/current collecting body/(100-x)% SVO+x%CFx , 0=x=100/current collecting body/(100-y)%SVO+y%CFx , 0=y=100 The ratio of x to y is selected from the group consisting of yx, xy, and x=y).
